The teaser clip offered a glimpse of Selwyn Patterson’s (Don Warrington) potential replacement, Sterling Fox (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge), leaving many fearing that the beloved Commissioner could be making his exit after 14 seasons.

Speaking exclusively to the Express, Shaquille (who plays the newest officer Seb Rose) shed some light on what’s to come.

He started off by saying: “Don Warrington is the heart of the show from season one to season 14. Fourteen seasons he’s been there from the beginning.

“Even when there were new detectives, he just stayed there, and he’s like the foundation.”

While the fate of Commissioner Selwyn remains uncertain, Shaquille hinted at an emotional journey ahead.

Discussing Selwyn’s replacement, the actor praised his co-star, adding: “The character is played by Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge, who’s a very good actor, very cool guy. We got to meet and bond on set.

“The audience loves Commissioner, so they wouldn’t like his character, but I think he plays it so well.”

Touching on the dramatic changes to come, he continued: “It’s almost like seeing the past and the future – a young Commissioner and an older Commissioner, and just that dynamic.

“But that episode, the fans are going to love. It’s going to be interesting.

“There’s going to be ups and downs, there’s going to be surprises, there’s going to be shocks, there’s going to be heartbreak.”

Shaquille also assured viewers that the twists and turns won’t stop anytime soon, adding: “There is so much, and it just gets better. Every episode gets better.”

A preview of the upcoming episode hints at Selwyn’s potential departure.

In one scene, Catherine raises eyebrows as she asks: “Has Selwyn told you what is happening tomorrow? The person taking over from him arrives.”

Meanwhile, the synopsis for today’s episode teases a gripping new case as the team investigates the dark side of online dating.

A man is found shot dead at his villa while waiting for a woman he met on an app, leaving Mervin and the team puzzled by a cryptic clue – a bullet in the victim’s hand.
