VERA is set to welcome a selection of new characters to its cast.
Fans and cast members alike were devastated following confirmation that the ITV mystery series will end with the upcoming series 14.
The final series will air early next year and include two 90-minute episodes.
In the meantime, ITV has put out a call for new cast members to join the show in its final run.
The show is looking to hire three teenage boys, a postman and six women, according to a casting call.
Talent agency Ne.14TV issued the casting call on behalf of the show, explaining there will be a 8am to 6pm filming schedule on May 10.
Among the opportunities are roles for two teenage boys (17+) who must be able to bring their own bikes for filming.
Meanwhile, another teenage boy (17+) is also needed, with his own scooter as well as an adult to play a postman and six adult women to play passer-by roles.
Vera fans were also delighted to spot lead actress Brenda Blethyn and other cast members filming in Cambois and Blyth beach on Monday.
The team will film further scenes in the area on Friday, May 10 with a number of supporting role opportunities available.
As Vera comes to an end, fans are already speculating about the beloved show’s potential future.
It comes as Vera viewers have speculated Sarah Lancashire could star in a potential spin-off.
Bookmakers have given the Happy Valley star 6/4 odds to replace Brenda Bleythn.
However, Diane Morgan follows close behind with odds of 5/1 as well as Suranne Jones with odds of 7/1.
