Big Boys has proved a runaway success for Channel 4 after bringing in huge ratings for its first two series.
The programme follows the character of Jack, played by Dylan Llewellyn as he heads off to university – leaving his widowed mother at home alone for the first time.
Jack and his mother had a close bond especially since his father passed away.
During his time at university, he befriended lad Danny who helped him to come to grips with his sexuality.
Jack also provided a shoulder to cry on as Danny battled with lingering feelings of depression.
In order to allow fans to breathe a sigh of relief, the channel has now officially confirmed that the programme will be back for a third series.
It came after Jack Rooke, the show’s creator issued a slew of tongue-in-cheek demands in order for him to create a third series for the broadcaster.
Poking fun at his requests, Channel 4 said in a statement: “Following a few compromises with @jackrooke’s requests… we’ve sealed the deal. IT’S OFFICIAL! Big Boys is returning to Channel 4 for series 3.”
Speaking about the show’s renewal, Jack added: “It’s been 10 years since I actually graduated Uni and now yet again I’m returning to my campus with a clapperboard & film crew to recreate the embarrassing endeavours of my youth. It is just a dream job!
“The response to series 2 has been beautiful and we’re so grateful this show continues to connect with and get discovered by so many weird and wonderful viewers.
“Big Boys is the closest I’ll ever feel to being in a girl band and we’re all desperate to come back like a pack of rabid dogs and put on a sexy, cringey, big funny show for you all!”
Before the latest update, Jack responded to online reports of the show returning on X where he said: “Fake news babe I ain’t signed anything.”
It left fans begging Channel 4 bosses to give the writer everything he needs to keep working on the sitcom.
One person exclaimed: “May all your requests be approved because we need series three!!”
Another added: “For f**k sake! These are all perfectly reasonable requests. Someone give Jack Rooke whatever he wants! I need series 3 in my eyeballs stat!”
Queer writer and producer Jason Reid chimed in: “Get em told love x”
The first two seasons are available to stream on Channel 4 but also Netflix.
