Hannah Thomas-Peter announced she had quit after 15 years to return to uni in a move that left her colleagues devastated.
But just hours later another newsroom ‘beast’ has announced they’ve quit too.
Sky News‘ assistant digital editor for politics Alan McGuinness took to social media to reveal he was departing after a decade.
He penned: “Another big beast stepping down.
“As if there isn’t enough breaking news at the moment… After 10 years at
“@SkyNews which has seen me cover five prime ministers, four general elections, countless reshuffles and leadership contests, Brexit and a global pandemic, I’m leaving.”
Alan told colleagues and viewers his final day with Sky will fittingly be election night on July 4.
The exits come as as a Sky News presenter recently announced they were returning in a shock U-turn.
Darren McCaffrey is back doing live reports after quitting the broadcaster in 2018.
The journalist even stepped back from TV altogether last year when he took time out to travel across the world and has been based in Vietnam recently.
