LOVE Island’s Jess White has revealed what she thinks is the real reason behind her partner Ronnie’s Vint’s very awkward recoupling speech.
The semi-pro footballer’s brief, poorly worded address was branded the worst in the show’s history by some viewers as he failed to pay one compliment to Jess.
Last night she appeared on the first Aftersun of the series from the villa’s Beach Hut to answer host Maya Jama‘s questions.
Maya asked what she made of Ronnie’s claim that he isn’t a wordsmith.
“I’m sorry. Is he all right?” said an exasperated Jess. “I don’t think he said one nice thing, I gave him at least five description words. I was wearing a feather dress for God’s sake.”
When pressed for her own reason for the less than enthusiastic speech, Jess said: “I think it’s because he didn’t know what all the boys were going to say and he didn’t want to come across like a melt and held himself back and looked like an idiot when all the boys gave lovely speeches.”
The audience erupted into cheers and seemingly agreed.
Jess then said pretty boy Sean Stone was her ideal man on paper, perhaps paving the way for something between them down the line.
Meanwhile, Jess is faced with yet more awkwardness after Ronnie gladly snogged Harriett Blackmore in a new game.
The dancer was tasked with kissing the man that she found most attractive from another couple.
Ronnie seemed to influence her decision by declaring himself the fittest in the villa and Jess could only watch on as the pair locked lips.
Jess previously confronted Ronnie about his speech, but didn’t get the response she wanted.
Having it out with each other on the day beds, she told him: “Poor choice of words, Ron.
“I don’t think you said one nice thing about me. You don’t need to go about it that way.”
Ronnie replied: “I’m not great with words. I want to apologise.”
Despite his apology, it seemed Ronnie was still keeping his options open.
Speaking to Harriett, Ronnie said: “Everything I said was honest – it just came out wrong.
“I do think there is something there from when we’ve spoke. I do want to see what’s happening with that.”
Ronnie added: “Hopefully we get a little date or something, away from everyone.”
The following day, the girls were speaking when Ronnie approached Harriett for a chat.
Jess said to the girls: “He’s a cheeky t**t”.
Reflecting in the Beach Hut, Jess said: “The guy has got an audacity – he’s not come and asked how I am.
“If he’s getting on better with Harriett and having good chats with Harriett then I wish them the best of luck.”
