GMB anchor Ed Balls continued to press Lucien, 31, as to whether he had had a phone call about the role[/caption]

Lucien Laviscount appeared on Thursday’s episode of the ITV weekday series to chat about the new instalment of his Netflix show, Emily in Paris.

Yet discussion quickly turned towards 007, with reports dating back to two years ago suggesting the former Corrie star had caught the eye of James Bond boss Barbara Broccoli.

Good Morning Britain stand-in host Ranvir Singh, who is filling in for regular show anchor Kate Garraway, asked: “Could there be a Bond phone call?”

He raised his eyebrows as he repeated: “A Bond phone call?

“Listen if the Bond phone call came in you don’t turn it down.

“That would be something pretty special I am sure.”

Fellow ITV anchor Ed kept up the questioning and asked: “But it’s not come in yet?” to which Lucien said: “Sorry?”

Ed, repeating the same question, said: “But it’s not come in yet?”

The Waterloo Road actor kept his cool and said: “If I got the call it would be amazing,” before bursting into giggles.

Former Labour MP Ed said: “Having been a politician, I can’t let you get away with that!” to which Lucien replied: “Well listen, I think it’s one of the most iconic British roles erm definitely that I look at.

“And I would love to be in the mix for that.”

Ed then suggested he should take on the role in his native Burnley accent.

Previously, a source told The Daily Mail: “Lucien ticks all of the boxes.

“He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily In Paris.

“Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look.”

In 2021, it was announced that Lucien would be joining the cast of Emily In Paris.

He has starred in seasons two and three opposite Lily Collins as her love interest Alfie.

Series four has now been confirmed for release on August 15, with 10 fresh episodes.

The plotline will see his character Alfie’s worst fears about Emily’s infatuation for Gabriel confirmed.

Lucien has also had roles in Coronation Street, Scream Queens, Waterloo Road and the short-lived Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene.

In 2011, he finished fifth place on Celebrity Big Brother.

Meanwhile, his love life has been ion the spotlight recently – after it was revealed he is dating Shakira

Timeline of James Bond actors

Over the years there have been seven actors who have played 007.

The first ever James Bond film was in 1962, and this is who has played the lead role over the years:

  • Sean Connery– The late star was the first ever actor to play Bond, and reprised the role for seven movies.
  • George Lazenby – The star only played Bond once, but was the youngest actor to ever play the spy.
  • Roger Moore– The late movie star spent 12 years making seven films in the famous franchise.
  • Timothy Dalton – The smooth actor took over from Roger Moore and appeared in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.
  • Pierce Brosnan– The handsome star played Bond for four movies from 1995 to 2002.
  • Daniel Craig– The British star was the first blonde James Bond and the sixth actor to win the role in 2005.

Bookies have long been speculating on the identity of the next James Bond ever since Daniel Craig quit.

Later on, fans were left shocked when it was announced by 007 film producer Michael G. Wilson that the new Bond would be “30-something”.

This means both hot favourites Idris Elba and Tom Hardy could be out of the running – if they stick to their suggestions.

Yet other names in the frame include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has topped the bookies’ list since 2022.

Henry Cavill shot to international stardom playing Superman and is also hotly-tipped for the role, as well as Happy Valley baddie James Norton.
